Jeremiah wrote these words while surrounded by devastation. Yet in the middle of sorrow, he chose to remember God's faithfulness. Every sunrise became evidence that God's mercy had not run out. Hope begins when we shift our focus from what we've lost to the God who remains.

I recall a time when a gross injustice was not going to be punished in the court of law. I was devastated that someone who was so harmful would go free. I could not understand God at all. In the midst of this, our little dog got out of our yard, and we could not find him. We looked for hours for him. Finally at midnight, we decided to go home and try again in the morning. But God woke me up at 3:00 am. I grabbed a cup of coffee and told my husband I was going back out to look for Lucky. I was praying and crying out to God. Then Amazing Grace came on the radio. It was my grandpa and grandma’s favorite hymn. I told God that I surrendered to Him and His will even though I couldn’t understand. I asked him to bring Lucky back to me if it was His will. I told Him how our family couldn’t take another loss. I turned the corner and there was my little dog, sitting by another big dog. I called both dogs and Lucky came running and the big dog just disappeared. I still don’t know where it went. I went looking for it but later wondered if God had sent Him to watch over our little dog.

Even though there will be things in this world we will never understand, God’s goodness and love for us never changes. We live in a fallen world that grieves Him. But His mercies are new every morning.

Each morning is an invitation to trust again. Yesterday's failures don't define today. Yesterday's disappointments don't cancel tomorrow's possibilities. God's mercies arrive fresh every morning because His love for His children never grows tired. Whatever today brings, His grace is already waiting for you.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for new mercies every morning. Help me begin today with hope instead of fear and confidence instead of doubt. Teach me to remember Your faithfulness each day. Amen.

There is something so comforting about waking up and remembering that God gives us new mercy for a new day. We don't have to have yesterday figured out before we can move forward. We don't have to know everything today will hold. We can simply begin again, knowing that God's compassion hasn't run out and His faithfulness is already waiting for us. My prayer is that this devotional gives you permission to let go of yesterday, receive God's grace for today, and step into your morning with hope.
