Waiting can be one of the loneliest experiences in life. We pray, hope, and trust, yet the answer seems delayed. Whether we are waiting for healing, provision, restoration, or direction, the silence can tempt us to believe that God has forgotten us. Yet Lamentations reminds us that even in seasons of grief and uncertainty, God's faithfulness remains constant. His mercy does not run out while we wait.

This past year has been brutal. I experienced a major setback with my spine after three previous surgeries, followed by another surgery that failed. The pain has been debilitating. I can’t walk far or even shop for groceries on my own. Things worsened when I lost the use of my legs and had to be taken by ambulance to the emergency room, which led to a week-long hospital stay. Now I am facing another major spine surgery. A disc has deteriorated so severely that, without surgery, I could become paralyzed from the waist down. Fear, anxiety, confusion, anger, and doubt have all tugged at my heart and mind.

However, the reality is that God often works in the waiting. While we focus on the outcome, He focuses on our hearts. Every morning He provides fresh mercy for that day, not necessarily the answers we desire. He desires our trust and hope in Him. As Charles Spurgeon said, "God is too good to be unkind, and He is too wise to be mistaken. And when we cannot trace His hand, we must trust His heart". The same God who has carried us this far will sustain us until His purposes are fulfilled.

Prayer: Jesus, waiting is difficult, and sometimes I grow weary. Help me remember that Your mercies are new every morning and that Your faithfulness never fails. Strengthen my heart to trust You while I wait and teach me to rest in Your perfect timing. Amen.
