Daily Devotional • Matthew 7:11 • Trusting the Goodness of Our Father

Matthew 7:11 reveals the heart of our Heavenly Father—a God who loves to care for His children and provide what is good. Today, reflect on His faithfulness, trust His wisdom, and remember that His generosity flows from perfect love.

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven, give good things to those who ask him!

- Matthew 7:11

As you look back on some of the best days of your life, what comes to mind?

Most likely, it is a day full of love, laughter, and joy.

But if you think about that day, it was probably shared with someone you care about or love.

Now take that thought a step further. Did you do something for someone that day? Or did they do something for you?

Often, I have felt God prompt me to reach out to someone, only to find they were having a hard day.

Other times, I have been the recipient of someone else’s kindness. Everyone has times when they need God’s comfort, hope, and outpouring of love.

As believers, we have the joy of carrying out God’s plans and the great commission. And, nothing feels as good as hearing how much God’s incredible Word has changed a life.

We are told in God’s Word that Jesus is close to the broken-hearted. Yet, he cares for us and is with us always. He loves to hear from us and desires to spend time with us each day.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for loving me and giving me so many blessings. Please help me to focus on your goodness to me today rather than what I desire. Fill my longings with your love. Amen.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd

It's easy to focus on unanswered prayers or unmet expectations, but Jesus invites us to remember who God is. Our Father is not distant, reluctant, or indifferent. He is loving, attentive, and good. As you journal today, reflect on the ways God has cared for you in the past and consider where He may be inviting you to trust Him more deeply in the present.

Prayer

Father,
Thank You for being a good and loving Father. Thank You for caring about every detail of my life and for providing exactly what I need. Help me trust Your heart when circumstances are confusing and Your timing feels difficult to understand. Remind me that Your love never fails and that every good gift comes from Your hand. Give me eyes to recognize Your blessings and a heart that rests confidently in Your care.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.

Message from Kara

One of the greatest comforts in my faith journey has been learning that God is not only powerful—He is good. Matthew 7:11 reminds us that we are loved by a Father who sees us, knows our needs, and cares deeply for us. Even when life doesn't unfold the way we hoped, we can trust that His heart toward us is always loving.

Today, I encourage you to pause and remember the ways God has already been faithful. His goodness didn't begin today, and it won't end tomorrow.

You are cared for by a very good Father.

With love,
Kara  🤍
