Daily Devotional • Psalms 145:9 • Recognizing God's Goodness in Every Season

Some seasons overflow with joy, while others stretch our faith. Yet through every high and low, God's goodness remains constant. Psalm 145:9 reminds us that His compassion extends to all He has made, inviting us to recognize His faithful presence every single day.

The Lord is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made.

- Psalms 145:9

Did you know that God’s goodness is not limited to our circumstances? It can be easy to recognize God’s goodness when life is going well, and our prayers are answered quickly. But God’s goodness is not limited to our circumstances. His goodness is constant, steady, and present in every season of life, because He never changes.

Sometimes His goodness looks like provision. Other times it looks like protection, wisdom, or strength to endure. Even when we cannot immediately see what He is doing, we can trust that He is working for our good. All the delight God has for Jesus, He has for us, for you!

When we begin to look for His hand in the small things—a conversation that encouraged us, strength to make it through a difficult day, a reminder of His presence—we start to recognize that His goodness surrounds us more than we realize. So often, we might forget to enjoy and appreciate God’s loving affection. God reached for us when we were lost and He rescued us with the incredible sacrifice and, resurrection of His Son, Jesus. Our only response should be to come to Him and recognize and confess His Lordship. He is, God, King, Lord! That should change things for us.

How beautiful is it that Jesus stepped into our story, our life to call us His child. He emptied Himself and poured out His love, giving up His deity and equality and place in heaven to come to earth for us. (Isaiah 53:2) The mind of Christ transcends circumstances and help us to stop thinking of ourselves and problems. He literally transforms our minds to His. How amazing is that!

Prayer: Lord, help me recognize Your goodness in every season. Open my eyes to the ways You are working in my life and teach my heart to trust that Your goodness never fails.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd

Gratitude often grows when we intentionally slow down and notice God's hand at work. As you spend a few moments journaling, ask the Lord to open your eyes to the ways He has shown His goodness—both in the extraordinary moments and in the quiet blessings you may have overlooked.

Journal & Reflect

  • Where have I seen God's goodness in my life this week?
  • What difficult season has helped me grow closer to Him?
  • What are three unexpected blessings I can thank God for today?

Message from Kara

One of the sweetest habits I've learned is to intentionally look for God's goodness every day. Some days it's easy to see in answered prayers or joyful moments. Other days, it's found in quiet mercies—a sunrise, a kind word, or the peace that comes from knowing He's near.

When we begin looking for His goodness, we discover it has been surrounding us all along.

My prayer is that today's devotional helps you notice His faithfulness in both the ordinary and the extraordinary. As you write down the ways God has been good, you'll build a beautiful reminder that His love never changes, no matter the season.

With love ,
Kara 🤍
