Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
- John 14:27
What is on your mind today? Are you racing about with your to-do list?
Or are you finding that you can’t get much done because your heart and mind are heavy with worry?
In this verse, we have a promise of eternal peace for all believers going through tough circumstances.
The word peace in this verse means Shalom, a Jewish greeting at that time.
However, the peace Shalom referred to at that time, isn’t devoid of trouble or difficulties.
It meant amid your hurt and pain may you experience God’s peace.
So how can we have peace when we see pain and suffering all around us?
How can we have confidence that despite our hurt, God is at work, and we don’t need to be afraid?
That overarching confidence comes from resting in the Lord’s sovereignty.
It is knowing that despite what is happening to us or around us, God is in control!
Prayer: God, please be near me today. Comfort my aching heart and mind. Give me peace in my pain and suffering. Amen.
With Love,
Sherry Shepherd

Another confirmation for me that our Lord is watching over me. I’ve had serious heart problems since mid-Nov. and His protection & Divine Timing have been evident, even as the matter became more serious and not resolved. I am thankful and grateful that I am His daughter.
