Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 4:6-7
Relax in me, my child.
You run around in circles, furiously trying to control everything.
You panic over the future. Fear and worry occupy your mind.
But I tell you, I am enough. In me, you have all that you need. When you fail, anger wells up within you because you feel frightened of what’s next. Feelings of angst, irritability, and fear bubble up and in spouts of anger and words of discouragement. But, I tell you that you have nothing to fear because I am with you.
I designed you with the need for me. When you feel empty and worried, it is because you have shifted your focus off of me. Trust me instead.
When someone hurts you, learn to forgive them, trusting me to deliver justice.
When you face problems as big as mountains and have no answers to how to scale them, I see your worry and your heart. I am with you. I will give you the strength to face each one.
Take a deep breath and remember I am in control, even now. My power is at work continuously, every day.
I never take a rest. So you can believe that I care for you and will never leave you!
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for being with me today. Thank you for loving me through the pain. Amen.
With Love,
Sherry Shepherd
One of the most meaningful ways to release your worries is to write them down before the Lord. As you move into your journaling time, don't worry about finding the perfect words. Simply bring Him your honest prayers, your gratitude, and your heart. Then leave space to notice the peace only He can provide.
Journal & Reflect
- What worries or fears am I carrying today?
- Have I talked to God about these concerns, or have I been trying to carry them alone?
- What blessings can I thank God for, even in this season?
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Philippians 4:6–7 mean?
Paul encourages believers to bring every concern to God through prayer instead of allowing anxiety to take control. As we pray with thanksgiving, God promises a peace that goes beyond human understanding, guarding our hearts and minds in Christ.
Does this passage mean Christians will never feel anxious?
No. This Scripture doesn't deny that anxiety exists—it invites us to bring our worries honestly before God. His peace is His presence with us, even when circumstances remain difficult.
How can journaling help reduce anxiety?
Journaling helps you slow down, express your thoughts honestly before God, record His faithfulness, and recognize answered prayers over time. It also creates space to replace fearful thoughts with biblical truth.
Prayer
Thank You for inviting me to bring every worry and concern to You. When anxious thoughts begin to overwhelm me, remind me that I never have to carry them alone. Help me choose prayer over panic and gratitude over fear. Fill my heart with the peace that only You can give—a peace that guards my mind and reminds me that You are always near. Teach me to trust You more each day and rest confidently in Your faithful care.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
