Daily Devotional • Proverbs 3:24-26 • Rest Securely in God's Peace

God never intended for fear to be your bedtime companion. Proverbs 3 reminds us that when we trust Him, He gives peaceful rest, confidence for tomorrow, and security that doesn't depend on our circumstances.

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.

- Proverbs 3:24-26

Let this scripture wash over you today and encourage you.

If we allow it, it can be easy to get caught up on the sudden terrors that strike the world day by day. The enemy is working an agenda to instill fear into as many hearts as possible.

However, as God’s children and vessels of His Spirit, we don’t need to be afraid. God is not nervous… Instead, we can fight the enemy's agenda of fear by having confidence in God and the promises He’s made us!

Jesus has also given us His supernatural peace that transcends human understanding. We don’t have the spirit of fear, but we have the mind of Christ! This supernatural peace is what enables us to have peace through things that people who don’t know Christ would not. No matter what may be happening around the world, God has never left you. He is here to stay!

Today, reflect on the amazing truth of this scripture. When fear tries to flood into your mind and drown out the voice of truth, immediately remind yourself of God’s promises and what He has spoken over you!

He is your shepherd, your defender, your protector, your strength, your joy and your peace. When you lie down to sleep tonight, He will be there to watch over you.

Let the Lord be your confidence today, and He will keep your foot from being caught.

Prayer: Lord, help me to never give in to fear that tries to flood its way in. I choose to cast down thoughts and refocus my mind on you. I know there is no reason to be afraid, for you are with me! I thank you that I will sleep peacefully tonight as I put my confidence in you.

With Love,
Sarah Sherstad

God's promises become even more meaningful when we pause long enough to write them on our hearts. Before moving on with your day, spend a few quiet moments reflecting on where God is inviting you to exchange fear for His peace.

Prayer

Father,
Thank You for being my source of peace. When fear tries to steal my rest, remind me that You are watching over every detail of my life. Help me trust You with tomorrow instead of carrying burdens You never asked me to bear. Quiet my heart, calm my mind, and let Your promises be the last thing I think about before I sleep and the first thing I remember when I wake.
Amen

Message from Kara

One of my favorite things about these verses is that they remind us God cares about the ordinary moments—including something as simple as getting a good night's sleep. Sometimes our minds race long after the lights go out, but His peace isn't dependent on perfect circumstances. It's found in trusting the One who never sleeps.

My prayer is that tonight you'll release every worry into His hands and rest knowing He's already holding tomorrow.

With love,
Kara 🤍
